The First Page

Over the years, How I Met Your Mother has taught me several crucial life lessons.
1. As much as I continue to try and epic fail I will never be as awesome as Neil Patrick Harris, not as Doogie, definitely not now.

2. Nothing good ever comes after 2:00 AM.

Since it’s 1:55 AM, I figure I’ll keep this short.

I’m creating this blog as a running commentary on the themes and social issues present in our contemporary storytelling mediums: books, films, and games. It'll examine characters, plots, motifs, and everything else in between to identify current trends and raise questions about what's compelling us as readers and story enthusiasts. What are the things at stake here? And why now are we liking the things we do? What general themes and concerns bridge the genre divide?

In the process, books and movies will get reviewed--collateral damage for attempting a blog like this. As much as possible, I'll be examining stories, whatever they are to find out what they mean for us.   Posts, ideally, every Wednesday.  We'll see how that goes.

Until next week, peace out.
